Allyson Felix
Allyson Michel Felix was born on November 18, 1985 in Los Angeles. The father of her Paul Felix was an ordained minister at the Master's Seminary in Sun Valley and their mother Marlean Felix was a school teacher at Balboa Magnet Elementary School. Felix realized early on that she had a talent for running when attending Los Angeles Baptist High School. In only 10 weeks following her initial attempt, she was second in the 200 meters race at the U.S. Indoor Track and Field Championship. Felix finished high school in 2003 and was signed by Adidas to become a professional athlete. Following that, she enrolled at the University of Southern California studying elementary education. The first Olympic medal came at the 2004 Summer Olympics, which took place in Athens Greece. Felix set a world junior record for running 200m in 22.18 secs. She became the youngest world athlete to win the 200 meters at the 2005 Helsinki World Championships and defended her title again in 2007 by beating her time-tested Jamaican rival Veronica Campbell. Felix participated at Beijing London Rio de Janeiro Tokyo and consistently placed among the top three athletes in each of her events.
